A one page document recognizing that land that The Shawnigan Lake Lumber Company Limited is building a logging truck road in belongs to Cowichan Indian Reserve No. 1. Includes a photograph of an Indigenous man. "Koksilah, B.C., February 2, 1950. To Whom it may concern: This is to certify that we the undersigned locatees, or recognized owners of certains lands on the Cowichan Indian Reserve No. 1, agree to accept the companesation as agreed to by the Band Council and Indian Superintendent from The Shawnigan Lake Lumber Company Limited, covering the locations of a logging truck road, 66' wide, situated beside and abutting upon the south side of the Canadian National Railway right-of-way. Each of the undersigned acknowledges receipt of the sume of Twenty Dollars on account ($20.00), and signifies his agreement to the location of the logging truck road; the payment due each locatee to the based on the exact acreage to be determined by a qualified B.C. Land Surveyor during the year 1950, after the individual locatees' boundaries have been determined." The undersigned are Mrs. Ethel Michel, Abele Charlie, Henry Daniels, Mrs. Albert Louis Gibson, Mrs. Julia Gibson. |
