This photo depicts the logging operation at Sproat Lake in 1930. Logging began in 1930 around Sproat Lake and was operate by Sproat Lake Sawmills. Sproat Lake Division was eventually acquired by Macmillian Bloedel Ltd. (McKnight, 1995) Unfortunately the original owner of this album only referred to himself as "myself." It's possible his last name was Watson. Given the date and that the men here worked at Camp 3 (Cowichan Lake), they worked for Industrial Lumber Mills Co. Photographs mostly depict Cowichan Valley(?). |
