Images were once framed in sets of three, found in collection but once owned by Gerry Wellburn. Removed from frame September 2020. Copies, not original photographs. Father Rondeault arrived from Quebec in 1858 and built his congregation in the Cowichan Valley. He was conversant in Chinook Jargon and the Old Stone Church is located on the Cowichan Indian Reserve. Father Rondeault built the building himself with material donated from the local First Nations (From: heritageBC). |
