Provenance |
In 1946, Butler Brothers Logging was started in the Sooke area by twins Claude and Wally Butler. The brothers had a reputation for being innovative which was proven in their designing (with the help of Cliff Burrows and Basil Oldfield) and manufacturing of a massive log hauler; the final iteration of which was called the Mark V (5). Finished in 1973 (or '74 there is debate), the hauler utilized a double-steering axle. The truck and pup trailer could carry up to 100 tons each. However, only four Mark 5s were ever made; one of which is located in the bushed of Powell River to this day. Butler Brothers Logging is still a successful operation today. |
