Provenance |
The locomotive was originally built in 1929. It was first owned by Campbell River Timber Company and designated No. 2. It was then owned by Alberni Pacific Lumber Company and re-designated No. 7. It was then owned by MacMillan & Bloedel Ltd. as No. 1007 in 1951 (it was also leased to Comox Logging & Railway Company as No. 18) and re-numbered No. 1055 in 1961. When 1055 was still in service, it made two 20-mile runs a day to the Diamond yards near Ladysmith before heading to a log dump in Chemainus. No. 1055's final run was in 1969. MacMillan Bloedel Limited was a Canadian forestry company with headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1951 Bloedel, Stewart and Welch merged with H.R. MacMillan to form MacMillan Bloedel Limited. Bloedel, Stewart and Welch held many timber resources and MacMillan was the first truly integrated forestry company in British Columbia. The two companies had timber holdings side-by-side and there was a natural synergy from this merger. In 1959 Macmillan Bloedel merged with a third company, Powell River Limited. MacBlo was purchased by Weyerhaeuser in 1999. |
