Jim Shillito's father-in-law, Percy Nelson, worked at an APL camp as a hand faller. Alberni Pacific Lumber Company later became the Alberni Pacific Division of MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. Jim Shillito worked forty-six years in the forest industry in total. Thirty-eight of those years he worked for Bloedel, Stewart & Welch (later MacMillan Bloedel). He started out as a "whistle punk" when he was just thirteen. |
