Provenance |
LeTourneau specialized in logging equipment that was designed by R.G. LeTourneau to maximize efficiency and limit operational costs. They were developed and manufactured in Texas in the late 1950's. The size of the machines increases the amount of work they can do. For the LeTourneau Series F and FT Electric Log Stackers-- the forks on these stackers could lift an entire load off a truck, and then deliver it where needed around the mill. Stackers could do the work of a loader, truck and handle personnel. It only took the F Series six minutes to unload sixty tons of logs. The pressure in the huge tires is low, allowing stackers to move over rough ground without rutting. This specific machine was originally owned by Muir Creek Logging and also by Malloch and Moseley Logging, and then owned by Wajax. It operated in Sooke. It unloads trucks, sorts logs by species, builds log decks and feeds the mill with fast electric ease. Malloch and Moseley became one of the largest independent companies in B.C. |
