    A 2-6-2 (Prairie) type locomotive on railway tracks with a person leaning out of the cab window. On the front of the locomotive is the British Columbia Coat of Arms, as well as the number "1077". "Provincial Museum" is visible on the side. No.1077 is a 90 tonne locomotive and was built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1923 and was used for logging. It is the only survivor in Canada of the "Prairie II" type.

On the front of the locomotive is the British Columbia Coat of Arms, as well as the number "1077". No.1077 is a 90 tonne locomotive and was built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1923 and was used for logging. It is the only survivor in Canada of the "Prairie II" type.

    21 men on the platform of a Willamete (Or Lidgerwood?) Skidder that is on some railroad tracks. "VL & M" and "3" are clearly visible on the side. It is a massive steam-powered machine with two boilers harnessed to sophisticated overhead cable logging systems.     A spar tree with multiple cables is the main focus, and at the lower right is a massive steam-powered machine with two boilers that is harnessed to the overhead cable systems.     Logs being collected by a series of overhead cables. On the right is a modified crane (cherry picker) mounted on a flatcar. The cherry picker would reel the logs into place and special tongs were used to place the logs on a flatcar. A "V" with a diamond shaped background is visible on the machine's side, indicating it belonged to Victoria Lumber and Manufacturing Company.

    The 4 Spot, later re-numbered 1044, at Copper Canyon. Note the wooden bridge. Picture taken 1942, and the railroad was abandoned in 1953. Locomotive pictured burned oil but originally used coal. In 1955, it was working at Chemainus Switching Mill & Yards. Locomotive was built by H.K. Porter Company, Pittsburgh in 1924. Information by R.C. Swanson, Chief Inspector of Railways.
